Season trend

Valentino – Alexander McQueen – Givenchy

In Africa for a walk… ok, there is nothing to worry about in the company of designers, who declared ethnics the hit of the season! The 2015 Spring-Summer collection resemble bright pages of National Geographic magazine. You can lose count listing designers who used motifs from cultures of the world. Asia, Africa and South America – complex patterns and drawings, embroidery and fringe – not only in accessories, but also in everyday clothes. Many people call this style urban ethnics, because such things can be easily combined with classic trousers, skirts, jeans and shoes.

A little history

In Spring – Summer collection from1967, Yves Saint Laurent for the first time approached motifs based on the African folk costume. The designer demonstrated  tops, skirts, dresses and blouses with catchy vegetable prints. As accessories were chosen wooden bangles, multi-colored beads, headbands and headscarves. Thus, Yves Saint Laurent, and then his main muse, who immediately tried on the images from the new collection, set the ethno-style trend for several seasons to come.

Practice

Feathers, leather and stones – these are the main items when creating an outfit. Choose natural fabrics – wool, silk or linen. Ideal option of footwear are  flat sole sandals. The fringe on models in ethnic style skirt reminds New Guinea. You can experiment with make-up, but do not turn it into a “war paint.”
