New York Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2018
The New York Fashion Week, one of the four main fashion events that took place in September passed and presented us the main trends for spring-summer season 2018. It seems that this year, designers have done everything that their new collections to be put up for sale immediately after the presentations, therefore, let’s find out quickly what the most interesting trends are and begin renew our wardrobe.
Fine Organza
This one of the most compelling trends for spring-summer which will be in high demand and further. This soft semi-transparent and feminine fabric look very seductive and provocative, especially when underneath is worn nothing, as suggest us many famous designers. Coach skillfully uses this fabric demonstrating professionally sewn skirts and dresses. Delpozo applied to the fabric a delicate floral print. Amazing classic silhouettes from Oscar de la Renta are absolutely wonderful, as are the outfits in sport-chic style from DKNY and virginal white dresses at Tadashi Shoji.
The more frills the better
This year, femininity is in abundance on the podium and gives birth to another innocent trend as frills and ruffles. They are present on the sleeves, shoulders, jackets, skirts, dresses and even shoes. Rodarte demonstrates exceptional evening outfits decorated with this stylish detail, Michael Kors used frills on its bags to give them a surreal look and Tome outfits attract with the presence of ruffles on each garment.
Rhinestones, sequins and glitter
Designers are convinced that in spring and summer 2018 the sun has to be reflected in the glitter from our clothes and spread in thousands of colors. We affirm with conviction that outfits of the New York fashion week, decorated with sequins and rhinestones, appeared in all collections to 80 percent. Designers urge us not to be afraid to use glitter in all styles of clothing: from sports until evening. The trend was supported by brands such as Rodarte, Custo Barcelona, Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang, etc.
Floral Print
The trend, which was stated in presentations for the fall-winter in New York, only strengthened their positions. Floral print was used in absolutely all collections of designers, but more interesting is that none was repeated. Prints diversity was as great as the number of flowers throughout the globe. Prints from Naeem Khan were bright and messed the imagination of any Impressionist, while flowers from Alice + Olivia and Rebecca Taylor were transposed by designer with photographic accuracy. This print is certainly the most loved by us.
High Slits
Another decision in terms of fashion for coming spring was announced unanimously by designers as being the slits, appearing on clothes in the most unexpected places. Designers believe that what matters is not to be afraid and to let others admire the beauty of us. Another advantage is that slits can be matched with any print.
Impressive Accessories
New York Fashion Week has become a true parade of the most lively and unusual accessories. Without the discrete “rivets”, thin gold rings and sober bags!
If we talk about shoes, then these are massive boots and Mary Jane shoes on high platform from Coach. If we talk about earrings, then these are long, up to shoulders, designs from Delpozo, Tibi and Proenza Sсhouler. And if we talk about bags, then we talk about Coach patterns decorated from top to bottom.
Backless Footwear
Sabo, mule and even flip flops…in spring the focus will be made on comfort and innocent chic. As always, the condition is one: do not be ashamed. In the New York fashion week backless shoes designs were presented so many, that we will definitely have increasingly what to choose. Mansur Gavriel demonstrates elegant low-heeled mules and Betty and Veronica by Rachel Antonoff and The Elder Statesman options in casual style. Interesting and extravagant patterns presented also Alexander Wang, Rag & Bone, Sies Marjan and Tibi.
Platforms
Practically half of fashion shows presented naughty and extravagant shoes in Spice Girls style. Proenza Schouler and Michael Kors decorate these shoes with interesting prints, while Marc Jacobs goes further and besides pop art print makes shoes so high that only the bold will risk to go out into the world wearing such designs.
Vivid Colors
During New York Fashion Week, designers have presented looks executed in all rainbow colors. It seems that spring and summer 2018 will have to forget the fine pastel shades and add in our wardrobe the most intense colors. The famous color blocking technique from previous seasons pass in second position and gives place to monochromatic. Look for inspiration in Tibi, Alexander Wang and Naeem Khan collections.
Fairytale princess
A not too visible but quite compelling trend was launched by certain designers who had presented outfits the main element of which are voluminous sleeves in the style of princess dresses from the past. Ryan Lo, Carolina Herrera, Reem Acra also have opted for this trend.
Nail Ideas in Bright Colors
The coming Spring prepares us hundreds of nail ideas, which certainly will not be overlooked by fashionistas. A must are the neon intense colors (Tibi, DKNY), metallic ombre (Michael Costello), geometric design, half painted nails (Rebecca Minkoff).
Dreads and Braids
Fashion Week in New York impressed us by the variety of proposed hairstyles. Many stylists have presented models that had on their head incredible dreads and biads, disorderly, arranged careless, and, most important, colored in very unusual shades (Marc Jacobs). And if dreads aren’t for you and you consider them too extravagant, then we recommend you to get inspired from more common options like Alice + Olivia and Otto Linger.
Expressive Makeup
We must mention that the makeup trends continued the trends launched at Paris Fashion Week, which took place in July. So we have where to look inspiration: expressive lips, accented with glitter, eyeliner (in spring we are recommended eyeliners in pastel shades) and expressive eyeshadows, applied with geometric accuracy.
