London Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2018

London fashion week gave life to several trends that will definitely be current in the 2018 spring-summer season. The 80’s, metallic, frills are things that correspond to the trends presented during the New York fashion week, although British were not British if they didn’t come up with something new, namely something original and unbelievable.

A new wave: the return of the 80’s

London fashion week clearly shows us one thing: the power of details. Mainly these have created a trend for next spring, the return of the 80’s. Topshop Unique paid attention to footwear and outdoor clothing, while Topshop and Vivienne Westwood to outer garment: coats, jackets and overcoats that are distinguished by cut and unusual prints that remind us of the NewWave era style. Peter Pilotto and Simone Rocha did not stay aside. This time, the makeup has become easier and more natural.

Flat sole sandals

Speaking of spring collections, the appearance of sandals is something habitual on fashion catwalks. However, London was special because some collections have shown nothing but such sandals. Which means that is itself a trend of the season. Victoria by Victoria Beckham is experimenting only with colors, and Vivienne Westwood with material. Christopher Kane chose crocs with marble print and decorated with details from raw stones.

Silver Metallic

London shone in shades of silver. Metallic silver is first of all the color of fabric, due to which the entire look is really fascinating and futuristic, and only afterwards accessories. Important: silver must be abundant, therefore, boldly choose silver dresses, skirts and shirts, the others will be reflected as in a mirror.

For silver glow opted for Versus by Versace, Topshop Unique and Mulberry.

Easy fit

Although the easy fit is specific to the 80s, we can not agree that London has given this trend a new life, therefore, highlight shapeless clothes as a separate trend. Victoria by Victoria Beckham showed wonderful outfits with long and wide leg pants. Dresses are also among the favorites, as well as suits and outerwear, namely coats and overcoats.

Sexy Feet

We say with full responsibility that the main accessory of London Fashion week were not accessories or hats, but the feet – long, sexy, highlighted using impressive clefts. Versus by Versace, Mulberry, David Koma, Emilia Wickstead are part of trend setter list. High clefts are important, as well as sexy details and slim fit silhouette.

Yellow color

The “everything yellow” trend, which has been established in New York, conquered also the British people giving them confidence that this color of summer is always present in any fashionista’s wardrobe.

Designers have shown many outfits, where the main color is yellow. Shades ranges from warmer to colder ice. David Koma, Mulberry, Versus by Versace have opted for this particular juicy and warm color.

Wet hair Effect

Versus by Versace, Markus Lupfer, Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha and many others have released on catwalk models with hairstyles in “just got out of the shower” style. The trend, which appeared yet during the Paris fashion week, penetrate safe in ready-to-wear collections. So, spring is a great time to try this trend, and not in winter when wet hair is not exactly the perfect decision.

Romantic Frills

Like New York, London could not ignore perhaps the most feminine trend of coming spring, namely frills and ruffles. Mary Katrantzou, Peter Pilotto, Bora Aksu, Molly Goddard, Mulberry and Preen decided that in spring, women should not forget about natural romance, therefore, if you opt for a dress then choose a light one, vaporous, and absolutely decorated with frills.

Asymmetry

This spring, designers are convinced that symmetrical outfits are too boring. Fashion is asymmetry, unusual cut, broken line, which creates really stylish and dramatic looks. It especially impresses unusual jackets from J.W. Anderson, but he is not the only one who adopted this trend in its collections. Here we can include Simone Rocha, Preen, Comme des Garcons and Yohji Yamamoto.

Sleeves

The trend that captured our attention still in New York conquers also London. Fashion on voluminous sleeves does not create anything but a wonderful impression. The silhouettes become eccentric and feminine, and we can not overlook these designer decisions. Puffed, lantern and frilled sleeves have become the icing on the cake in the collections of Simone Rocha, Emilia Wickstead, Preen and Ashley Williams.
