Safari style – a real hit of the holiday season!

Dsquared2 — Hermes — Michael Kors

The Colonial style (safari) – is a constant scale of the fashion world, which each season is interpreted in a new way. This summer, the American designer Michael Kors offers to try elongated jackets with short sleeves and shorts in sandy shades while Christophe Lemaire, the creative director of Hermes House, in his spring-summer show, used the traditional technique: a combination of the classic white shirt with elements of safari style – the homage to Meryl Streep look in the movie “Out of Africa” (1985).

A little history

1968-1969

The Safari style burst onto the world’s catwalks and glossy pages thanks to Yves Saint Laurent, who in 1966 showed a collection dedicated to Africa. This show caused a storm of emotions and definitively changed the idea of how clothes should look for travel purposes. After some time, ladies from all over the world were trying on mustard and sand colored jackets with pockets, capri pants and lace dresses. The main features of Safari style remain unchanged for several decades: natural colors (beige, brown, green, olive, sand), natural fabrics (linen, leather), animal prints, camouflage, laces, standing collars, patches.

Practice
