You have never seen such an original, but at the same time restrained and non-vulgar method to add to your image a little gold. Take a closer look to the looks from Dries Van Noten Spring-Summer show and follow our instructions to repeat them by your own.

When you look into the eyes of the models that took part in the fashion show of the Belgian brand Dries Van Noten for Spring-Summer 2015, you do not immediately understand why they sparkle so magically. Thoughts on this subject can be very different – you can even convince yourself that the nature endowed the women with such charm in their eyes. Probably the last thing that comes to mind will be that this is the result of an artful beauty-trick. All is thanks to the talented makeup artist Peter Phillips, who invented the use of thin metal threads of a golden shade as false eyelashes. Thanks to his invention, it was possible to add to the look a mystery, as well as to make gold in the makeup look restrained and modest. Why to not repeat it by your own?

Step 1. Working on an ideal skin tone

If you want to put an accent on the golden lashes, it is important to first take care of your skin tone. Make it more even with the help of a face foundation. If you had red spots or little blemishes on your skin, cover them with the help of a concealer and then fix the result with a powder – apply it in a thin layer with a big brush.

Step 2. Doing the eye makeup and adding the “gold” accent

Although the “highlight” of the image will be in the blink of gold lashes, a shadow must also be used. When preparing the models for the Dries Van Noten show, Phillips applied beige shades on the eyelid so that the makeup has gained some depth. Follow his example and distribute the eyeshadow on the eyelids in a thin layer. You can then proceed to the most creative part of the makeup.

“You will not find a golden mascara, which will give this effect, – said Peter. – While false eyelashes look too eccentric”. You can try the technique used by Phillips, and with the help of glue for false eyelashes apply one by one the golden thin thread as close as possible to the eyelash with the help of the tweezers. But if you feel that you don’t have enough patience to do that, you will still have to resort to false eyelashes or mascara with gold sequins. If you want the golden sparkle to be delicate, as in the looks from the Dries Van Noten show, apply a similar mascara only on the tips of the upper eyelashes.

Step 3. Accentuating the eyebrows

Despite the golden eyelashes, this make-up still remains neutral in the nude gamma. Therefore, you will have to add the facial features a bit of sharpness, and Peter did this by accentuating the eyebrows. Retouch them by using brown shadows so that the eyebrows were slightly darker than your natural hair color and also give them a clearer form.

Step 4. A little more gold

Gold was not only in the make up, but also in the hairstyles models were having at Dries Van Noten shows. In general, these were very simple – hair stylists just divided the hair on a side parting and removed the hair from the face on the ears. The parting was decorated with golden stripes. Sam McKnight, the person in charge for the show styling, decided to mix hair wax with gold leaf – the resulting “paste” was applied on the parting line. If you will decide to complement your hairstyle with such detail, the gold leaf, of course, can be replaced by another, more simple “ingredient”.
