The main award in Cannes 2015 was given to a French director’s film

The Palm d’Or of the 68th Cannes Film festival was given to French director Jacques Audiard’s film, “Dheepan” – a social drama about the destiny of a Sri Lanka warrior, who flies in a Paris uptown.

The best director was named Hou Hsiao Hsien, for the film “Assassin” about a girl from medieval China. In the nomination “Best Screenplay” the prize was awarded to “Chronic” written by Michel Franco.

The prize for the best female role was shared between Rooney Mara for Todd Haynes film “Carol” and Emmanuelle Bercot for the main role in Maïwenn Le Besco’s film “My King”.

In the nomination “Best Male Role”, the prize was awarded to Vincent Lindon for his main role in Stephane Brize’s film “La loi du marche” (The Measure of a Man).

The best short film was named the Lebanese-Qatari film “Waves ’98”.

The Grand Prix of the festival was awarded to the tape of the Hungarian director Laszlo Nemes “Son of Saul,” the Grand Jury Prize – Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos film “The Lobster”.
