On December 20th, in the US state of Nevada, was hosted the contest “Miss Universe 2015”. Beauties from around the world came to the US to compete for the title and crown set with diamonds and topaz, worth $ 300 million. The trophy went to the 26-year-old Filipino Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
The competition was attended by women from 80 countries, and the fight for the title can truly be called a violent one. But the most intense moment of the show was the finale: the contest “Miss Universe” has not ever seen such.
The fact is that when the host Steve Harvey declared the winner… he did a mistake and gave the title to the representative of Colombia, the 21-year-old Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo. The girl got the crown and she was extremely happy. However, the joy on her face gave way to sadness, when the host realized that he misread the name of the winner on the card issued to him.
The audience and models were perplexed few minutes but after Harvey brought public apology, the victory eventually went to Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach from the Philippines.
“The excitement of live TV was evident tonight on The Miss Universe stage with over 10 million live fan votes tabulated. Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play. We witnessed that tonight when the wrong winner was initially announced. Our sincerest apologies to Miss Universe Colombia, Miss Universe Philippines, their families and fans” wrote on Twitter the “Miss Universe” official representatives.
Following the results of the competition, the first place, as we have said, was won by Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach from the Philippines, the second – the Colombian Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo (which at first was handed the crown), and third place went to the 27-year-old American Olivia Jordan.
The contest “Miss Universe” began its history in 1952. It is one of the four most prestigious of such events, together with “Miss World“, “Miss Earth” and “Miss International”.
