Sam Taylor-Johnson expectedly quit “50 shades of gray.” While working on an erotic drama, the director has repeatedly had conflicts with the author of the novel, E. L. James, being absolutely categorically against any deviation from the original text.

Taylor-Johnson tried to make a movie that not only give a tribute to the book, but also bring something new. James did not like this approach, and the director had to fight for each change in the script.
