Cate Blanchett has denied her statement on being bisexual. At the press-conference dedicated to the lesbian drama “Carol” at Cannes Film Festival, the actress explained that her comments on the movie were taken out of the context.

“From memory, the conversation ran: ‘Have you had relationships with women?’ And I said: ‘Yes, many times. Do you mean have I had sexual relationships with women? Then the answer is no.’ But that obviously didn’t make it”, said the actress.

Also, the actress expressed her hope that the time when people will no longer need to discuss someone’s sexual orientation will come.

In the movie based on Patricia Highsmith novel, “The price of salt,” Blanchett played a married lady of high society, Carol. In the story, she has a love affair with a young saleswoman Teresa.
